WHAT IS IT AND HOW DOES IT WORK ?
Radiesse is a dermal filler used in cosmetic dermatology and aesthetic medicine. It is composed of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a gel carrier. This filler is primarily used to address facial wrinkles and folds, and it can also be employed for facial contouring and rejuvenation.
Immediate Volume: The gel carrier provides immediate volume and lift to the treated area, addressing wrinkles, folds, and hollowed regions.
Stimulation of Collagen Production: The calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres stimulate the production of collagen, a natural protein that provides structural support to the skin. As the gel is gradually absorbed by the body, the newly produced collagen continues to contribute to the improvement in skin texture and firmness.
Consultation: Before the procedure, a consultation with a qualified healthcare provider or licensed practitioner is essential. During this consultation, the individual's aesthetic goals, medical history, and suitability for the treatment are discussed.
Preparation: The treatment area is cleaned, and a topical anesthetic or local anesthetic may be applied to minimize discomfort during the procedure. However, Radiesse formulations often include lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to enhance patient comfort.
Injection: Using a fine needle, the Radiesse filler is injected into the targeted areas beneath the skin. The practitioner carefully administers the injections to achieve the desired enhancement or correction.
Molding and Massaging: After injection, the practitioner may massage and mold the treated area to ensure even distribution of the filler and to achieve the desired contour.
Post-Procedure Care: Patients are typically advised to avoid strenuous physical activity, excessive sun exposure, and certain medications that may increase the risk of bruising. Some temporary swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection site may occur, but these side effects are generally mild and resolve over time.
